OpenNode2 used to support California's Exchange Network participation
Windsor was selected by the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) to implement a series of environmental data exchanges using the National Environmental Information exchange Network (‘Exchange Network’, or EN) and Windsor’s OpenNode2 software as the underpinning technologies.
Cal/EPA is the umbrella organization for a number of state environmental agencies focused on media- or program-specific environmental issues. In addition to supporting these agencies, Cal/EPA also is responsible for administering a one-stop, cross-media environmental data
reporting program for facilities throughout the state, known as the Unified Program (UP). Like many other state agencies, Cal/EPA’s existing mechanisms for exchanging environmental information were largely paper-based or reliant on duplicate data entry, and the automation of these data exchanges presented a significant opportunity to improve the operational efficiency of the agency. Windsor performed an analysis of Cal/EPA’s data exchange needs, and based on the results of this analysis developed a portfolio of data exchanges to be implemented. Upon approval from Cal/EPA, Windsor then implemented OpenNode2 at Cal/EPA and configured a number of EN data flows to support the exchange of California’s environmental data with U.S.E.P.A and other national and state environmental and public health agencies. EN data flows implemented to-date include: FacID, HERE-TIER2, ICIS-NPDES, ICIS-NETDMR, RCRA (from multiple sources), TRI, WQX.
Windsor continues to work with Cal/EPA to support and enhance their EN-based OpenNode2 data exchanges.
