TurboWaste.Net - Online Reporting Project
The Washington Department of Ecology wanted to make several improvements to its Hazardous Waste Information Management System (HWIMSy), including moving away from legacy technologies and enabling the regulated community to report their required information via the Internet. Ecology engaged Windsor Solutions to migrate HWIMSy from a COOL:Gen environment into a Microsoft .NET Framework/SQL Server 2000-based environment with a Web interface.
Results that Reward
The new TurboWaste.NET Web application prevents users from entering improperly formatted data , which improves data quality and reduces time spent internally on data entry and processing. The application also features independent authentication and authorization for external clients, so it can separately verify users' permission to access the system and their permission to access specific pages within the system. Ecology expects that nearly one-third of the 6,000 active hazardous waste facilities in the State of Washington will use the new online reporting capabilities in the first year.
